About Sluts Welcome to Sluts. This is a chat list for London Goths. A brief history: Dishmop created Tarts (see http://www.darkwave.org.uk/tarts/), intended as a place for London Goths to arrange/announce events. Tarts got to have a huge amount of subscribers, and is the way of things discussions started taking place on the list. However there were people who don't have time to read a lot of extraneous mail. So when people started threads about the best way to cure colds on Tarts, other people got annoyed. Once or twice, it got nasty. Kieran decided to take the pressure off Tarts by creating a list intended for chat, so that people thus inclined could do so without burdening Tarts. The name of "Sluts" was suggested by Andrew Clegg, basically as a derivative of "Tarts", and was quickly settled upon. For a long time Kieran ran sluts, but eventually all good things come to an end and he handed over the running of the list to Clive, who is the present incumbents. What sluts certainly lacks is a well-defined set of rules. This is deliberate: It opens the list to all types of discussion and wibble -_nothing_ is off-topic - and it allows the admin people to act as a Fascist Dictator Bastards from Hell if they get angered, irritated or simply bored. This is surely a good thing, and doesn't happen nearly often enough (though we are working on it :). What we do ask is that you attempt to follow basic netiquette, please do not send binaries from or to the list, this will involve nasty things happening. So set your system clock to the correct time and try and avoid HTML postings (ideally send as ASCIIor plain text) as well as behaving in a vaguely civil way to everyone else on the list. There are 300ish users of sluts at the moment and the traffic is around 200-250 e-mails a day, though it can climb much higher on occasion (and tends to get quieter at the weekend). Well, that's the lot. In closing we'd just like to add that if you leave we'll all think you're a wuss. Hope your mail software is up to the task! Subscribing to Sluts
Subscribe to Sluts by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
